1. To start the Network and Sharing Center, we suggest that you open the Start
screen (Metro desktop) by pressing the Windows button on the keyboard or
go down to the left bottom corner and click.

2. Start typing "network" and click on "Settings" to the right. Then
find to the left "Network and Sharing Center" and click on it.

Many staff members have there own workstation located in an office. Many of those computers need to have a fixed IP-address and this is how you insert it for Windows 8.

Employees of HÍ can apply for a fixed IP address. This is usually done when having desk computers. 

The application process in Ugla (Owl): Computing service-> network connections-> IP application.

You need to fill out the fields marked with a star *

Adjust the settings of the wireless net card:

Press Start and click "Control Panel". In the Control Panel click "Network Connections".
Right-click on "Local Area Connection" and click "Properties".

Choose "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and the click "Properties".

Adjust the settings of the wireless net card:

In the lower right corner of your computer screen, right click on the Icon with two computers then click "Network and sharing center".

Choose "Manage Network Connections" on the left side of Network and Sharing center.

Adjust the settings of the wired net card:

In the lower right corner of your computer screen, right click the computer icon and click "Network and sharing center".

Click "Change adapter settings" on the left side of Network and Sharing Center.

In order for your computer to receive an IP address from RHÍ the net card needs to be adjusted for receiving an IP address.
On the left you will find instructions for net card adjustments with different operating systems.

Fixing an IP address with Windows XP

1. Click “Start” and “Control panel”.

2. Choose “Network connection”.
3. Right click “Local Area Connection and choose “Properties”  (note! The connection might have a different name).

4. Click “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” and “Properties”.

Fixing an IP address with Windows 7

1. Right click networking icon in the lower right corner and choose “Open Networkand Sharing center".

2. Click “Change adapter settings” on the left in the “Network and Sharing center“ window.

3. Right click “Local Area Connection” and choose “Properties”.

It is often useful to have a fixed IP address for the computer, this usually refers to desk computer.

On the left in the menu are instructions on how to put in the IP address with different operating systems.
