Students who wish to use Linux on the lab computers can use the lab in Askja 166.
Start by restarting a computer you would like to use and select one of the Ubuntu Linux operating system editions. If nothing is chosen within 10 sec. the computer automatically restarts Windows operating system.

Sogo is a new web interface system, which controls your mail, calendar and address book. Sogo will replace the old mail interface, which has previously only directed mail.
The calendar, address book and mail in Sogo can easily be connected with other clients like Thunderbird, which we recommend. It is possible to synchronize everything with the right adjustments. We will be posting further instructions in the next few weeks.

Students are now able to register two computers (or phone/device) to the wireless Internet. Start by logging on to Ugla (ugla.hi.is) and choose "Computer services" and "Internet connections", then click "Wireless Internet cancel".

Jötunn is an IBM BlaceCenter cluster computer of the university of Iceland, consisting of a master node and 42 computer nodes running Red Hat Linux. Each node contains an Intel Dual-core Xeon 2.8 GHz processor with 4 GB memory. Computer nodes are located in three racks of 14 nodes each and named accordingly. There are 3*14 =42 nodes in Jotunn cluster. Each of the computer node has a CPU with two cores and each core is hyper threaded.

All users of HÍ have the opportunity to use HÍ’s multi user computers. Katla (katla.rhi.hi.is) replaced Herðurbreið, which was a popular multi user computer. Jötunn (jotunn.rhi.hi.is) is a specialized Linux multi user computer and severs also as an entrance to RHÍ’s computer cluster.

1. Make sure all the cords are connected in the right places. The thinner end on the phone cord (nr. 1, picture1.) need to be connected to a phone point in the wall and the broader end should be connected to the grey whole in the router. The yellow whole (nr. 3) is for the internet cord, which has two broad ends. The other broad end needs to be connected to the wall. Picture 1. Connecting the phone cord and internet cord.
