There is a web group in HÍ called the Web factory which maintains HÍ's main website (www.hi.is) and other websites of HÍ and keeps them running. The group consists of employees from Reiknistofnun and people from other fields.

RHÍ’s IT support offers employees of HÍ consultation regarding computers and software. More and more people use this service e.g. when buying new computers for the departments and institutes of HÍ. In those cases the service ensures that the equipment bought coordinates with HÍ’s net environment. It is also important that new equipment works well with older equipment in each place.

The system department operates and maintains the many and complex network systems of HÍ besides copying files and storing.
 

Employees of the software development department have designed a specialized system called the Owl (Ugla), which is the University's inner web. The Owl is an important information medium and a working tool for both students and employees.

The phone and network department is in supervision of arranging and maintaining network and phone equipments on campus e.g. wireless transmitters, phone devices and points. 

The IT Help Desk is (Tölvuþjónusta RHÍ) located on Háskólatorg. The opening hours are between 8.00 to 16.00 every weekday.

The IT Help Desk assists users with issues related to Reiknistofnun and is intended to assist both students and employees.

Reiknistofnun Háskóla Íslands (RHÍ), The Computing Service of the University, is the supervicer of the University's computer system.

The activity consists of service, configuration and operation of the Computer Networks and Servers.
